These awards are available to currently registered undergraduate students and are valued at a maximum of $2,250 for up to 150 hours of internship work with a research grant holder at Carleton University. The work is for a minimum of eight weeks and can be undertaken in either the fall or winter terms or across both. Half of the total funding will be provided by the research supervisor and that will be matched by funding from the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic).
The program provides students with exposure to research scholarship, mentoring, and the opportunity to develop research skills in their discipline. Faculty members benefit from assistance with their research and a chance to provide research mentorship to Carleton undergraduates.
Building on last year's successful pilot, the 2011-2012, the I-CUREUS program is offered by the Office of the Provost and the Vice-President (Academic), in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-President (Research and International), as part of the Critical and Creative Inquiry Initiative under the Carleton Academic Plan.
Details and an application form (to be completed by both faculty supervisor and student) can be found at their website.
