From July 6 to 10, Ottawa played host to the largest gatherings of evolutionary biologists ever. Biology Professor Andrew Simons was one of the key organizers of this event, called the 1st Joint Congress on Evolutionary Biology, which brought together five of the world’s largest academic societies devoted to the study of ecology and evolutionary biology. Over the course of the four days, approximately 1,400 talks were given covering the latest, leading-edge research in this field.
