Carleton University’s computer science professors and Ottawa’s technology leaders came together on November 19th for the Common Ground speed networking edition. This was a power packed night of matchmaking and networking, organized in collaboration between the Dean of Science at Carleton and YOUi • Labs. We want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved, both from our business and academic communities, for being part of this innovative event.
Common Ground speed networking edition was designed for participants to rotate through timed stations to meet, share their work and identify ways to help one another and collaborate together. It was months of meetings and networking packed into one high-velocity event! Representing Ottawa’s technology business leaders were C.E.Os, C.T.Os, directors, and designers from seventeen Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Representatives from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) and the Carleton University Research Office (CURO) were also on-board to engage discussions in their respective areas. The list of professors from Carleton included Michael Barbeau, Robert Biddle, Jit Bose, Gail Carmichael, Dwight Deugo, Pat Morin, David Mould, Jorg Sack and Tony White. It was over two and a half hours of continuous conversation that concluded with genuine interest to replicate this fantastic model to continue sparking new contacts and connections.
What is Common Ground? Common Ground aims to build bridges between Ottawa’s technology business leaders and academics.
