Academic dishonesty, in whatever form, is destructive to the values of the university, and risks harming the university’s reputation as place of learning and innovation. Furthermore, it is unfair and discouraging to those students who pursue their studies honestly.
Carleton University demands academic integrity from all its members. The Academic Integrity Policy governs the academic behaviour of students.
Last year, nearly 600 students received a penalty under the Academic Integrity Policy. While penalties under the policy tend to be rehabilitative and educational for first year students, second year students and above should expect more significant sanctions including zero’s for large assignments or an “F” in their course.
The credibility of your degree is very important and as a result, academic dishonesty is treated in a fair and serious matter at Carleton. For more information about the academic integrity at Carleton, please visit the Student Affairs webpage.
