Advances in technology applied to medical and clinical research have led to the availability of large volumes of data from a variety of research studies and clinical environments. This data can be processed, integrated, federated, stored and analyzed to present opportunities for new understanding of diseases and treatments and has the potential to help save lives and billions of dollars throughout the health care system as well as, potentially helping create new products, methodologies and jobs.

The High Performance Computing Virtual Laboratory (HPCVL) is pleased to host this symposium to allow several aspects of this opportunity and the issues surrounding the collecting and use of this data to be explored.

Centered at Queen's University, HPCVL has been successful in delivering a world-class reliable and secure research computing environment, storage resources and support for over ten years. Last year HPCVL was recognized as one of the "Best 10 Research Facilities" in Canada by Backbone Magazine. It is accessible from anywhere in Canada, providing researchers with the secure advanced computing resources they need to do innovative research that will help build Canada's economy while providing high return on capital investment for government and industry. HPCVL currently hosts the "Brain- CODE" database for OBI and is a part of the In-DOC management team.

Please contact HPCVL for further details on this event.
