Department of Physics, CRC Tier 1 (Particle Physics) – Professor, Tenured (Closing Date: Applications will be Reviewed as Received)
The Department of Physics, invites applications from qualified candidates for a CRC Tier 1 Tenured appointment in Particle Physics at the rank of Professor beginning July 1, 2015.
The Physics department at Carleton University is seeking candidates to fill a CRC Tier 1 position in experimental particle physics. We invite applications from outstanding scientists who have demonstrated research creativity and have the ability to attract co-workers and students. The successful candidate will be expected to lead a strong, externally-funded research program and supervise students and research associates. We are in particular looking for a candidate who has the ability and experience to lead our EXO research group. Applicants must be committed to effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The Department of Physics at Carleton has a strong particle physics research program. Our experimental program includes significant roles in the ATLAS collaboration at the LHC, in SNOLAB, the double beta decay search EXO, and detector development for the LHC and International Linear Collider. The Carleton theory group's interests are primarily in particle physics phenomenology, including electroweak and Beyond the Standard Model physics, in particle astrophysics and string theory. There is a strong and mutually beneficial interaction between the theory and experimental groups. The Department also has an active medical physics research group with comprehensive links to Ottawa’s medical physics community.
Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. and are expected to be established independent scientists with externally funded research program. They should also have experience mentoring junior researchers. We are looking for applicants who are currently working at the full professor (or equivalent) level.
