Postdoctoral Fellowship in Women and Dementia
This Postdoctoral Fellowship position is funded by the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegenerative Diseases and Aging (CCNA). It will be supervised by Dr. Mary C. Tierney, co-leader of the Women, Gender, Sex, and Dementia Cross-Cutting Program. Dr. Tierney is a Neuropsychologist and Professor & Clinician Scientist, Family & Community Medicine, University of Toronto. She is also Director of the Primary Care Research Unit, where the fellowship will be situated. Applications are sought for a two-year full-time postdoctoral fellow (one-year initial term, with renewal pending satisfactory first-year performance).
Applicants should hold a PhD in epidemiology, public health, psychology, sociology, or a related field. Strong aptitude for quantitative research is required, along with evidence of high-quality research publications. The candidate will have experience in research using large health service administrative databases, with a strong interest in hormonal influences on cognition and health, for example, neurodegeneration, estrogen and cancer.
The successful candidate will be expected to work full-time at the University of Toronto teaching hospital Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Applicants should not have received their PhD more than 5 years before the beginning of the fellowship, and applicants must have completed all requirements of their degree within no more than six months of the engagement of the fellowship. Applicants who have not completed their doctorate should include information in their cover letter regarding the expected date for completion.
