Register for Contract Instructor Orientation

Monday, June 16, 2014

To facilitate entry into Carleton’s teaching community, the EDC offers orientation for new contract instructors. The orientation covers information on Carleton’s policies and procedures, introduces the university’s online learning management system (LMS), and offers an exploration of teaching methodologies, inclusive learning environments and student motivation. Although this orientation is primarily intended for new contract instructors, those who have previously taught at Carleton are also welcome to attend. Contract instructors can choose to attend the evening orientation session on Thursday, August 7th, at 5:30pm. Food will be provided at the beginning of the session. In order to allow us to organize the appropriate resources and food orders, contract instructors are asked to register one week in advance. If you are unable to attend the session, but are interested in getting the material or meeting with an educational developer before the start of the term, please contact the EDC at edc [at] carleton [dot] ca .

This year, EDC will also offer mid- and end-of-term follow-up sessions for all contract instructors where issues such as assessment, managing difficulties in the classroom, and academic integrity will be discussed. Please stay tuned for more information about these follow-up sessions. If you have any questions please contact the EDC at: edc [at] carleton [dot] ca or by telephone at (613) 520-4433.
