To All Members of the Carleton Community,

Please be advised that starting today, the City of Ottawa will be installing some fencing near the north-bound O-Train platform. This fencing is part of the preparation for the installation of a piece of public art that will be erected at the Carleton O-Train station.

Access to the north-bound platform will not be impacted. However, minor modifications to the pedestrian pathway will occur.

The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) recently announced the winners of the 2014 IASP Early Career Research Grant Program. The Faculty of Science and the Department of Neuroscience want to congratulate Professor Michael Hildebrand on winning this prestigious grant for his project titled, “Spinal cord ion channels in acute and chronic pain signaling”.

The 2015 recipients of medals awarded annually by the Society for Sedimentary Geology have been announced.  

The winner of the prestigious Francis J. Pettijohn Medal in recognition of "Excellence in Sedimentology and Stratigraphy" for 2015 is Charlie Kerans (Ph.D. Geology, Carleton University, 1982).

The Faculty of Science and the Department of Earth Sciences congratulates Dr. Kerans on his award.

‘Big Data’. It’sDavid Robillard an up and coming field. No wonder Carleton is hosting a ‘Big Data’ event on April 24 to celebrate its more than 130 researchers who are focused on this area. The university is also in the process of creating a new collaborative master’s program in data science.
