Carleton University unveiled today a large scanning device with the potential for several real-world applications, such as  scanning containers for radioactive material, detecting seismic activity under volcanoes and monitoring nuclear waste tanks.

Carleton's Department of Communications offers media training sessions to faculty, staff and graduate students who may be called upon by the media to discuss their research project or to share their expertise. The sessions include tips on dealing with journalists from all mediums and effective ways to deliver your message.

You are invited to participate in a paid user study, conducted by our research labs from the School of Computer Science at Carleton University. We are evaluating an interactive comic to teach users about antivirus software and virus prevention.

The study takes place in two in-lab sessions on campus, at Herzberg 5115. In the first one-hour session, participants will view a prototype and provide their opinion and perception of the visualization as a learning tool. A short follow-up session takes place one week later. Participants will receive a $20 cash compensation.

All Carleton undergraduate students are invited to submit their designs to the IDea (Innovative Designs for Accessibility) competition. The deadline for ideas is April 14, 2013. There is $3,000 in prizes up for grabs!

The IDea student competition aims to engage the creative minds of Ontario’s university undergraduate students. The goal is for students to develop innovative, cost-effective and practical solutions to accessibility-related issues in their communities.
