With a new term quickly approaching, there will be a number of instructors who will begin teaching at Carleton for the first time. The Office of the Associate Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) (OAVPTL) is hosting an orientation for all instructors, whether they’re looking for a first-time orientation or for a refresher on university policies about teaching and learning, lesson planning, inclusive learning environments, cuLearn, and student motivation.
The Alberta Student Energy Conference is a one-day, student organized event which aims to bring students and industry professionals together in a day of educational talks and networking. We welcome students in engineering, geoscience and business programs to take part. This year, we are thrilled to announce the addition of a case competition component as well as a career fair to the conference. Registration has now opened! A game developed in a knowledge mobilization (KMb) class could become a real tool for bridging discussions and building partnerships with the next generation of knowledge brokers.
The students who developed the game were aiming to better inform themselves about the growing field of KMb when they took on the project for Geri Briggs, co-manager of Carleton’s Community First: Impacts of Community Engagement (CFICE) initiative.
Service Excellence is enacted every day at Carleton University, but once a year we open up nominations for examples of how Carleton staff and faculty go above-and-beyond and truly inspire Service Excellence in exceptional ways. The Service Excellence Awards are an opportunity for the Carleton community to celebrate all staff and faculty who consistently deliver exceptional service.
The university will close at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014 and will re-open on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015.
